This reminds me of how my mom would sit on the floor with our poodle, giving her a haircut. Dog hated it....until she was done, when she pranced around like a queen!
Torture for dog and owner. I'm too chicken to do my dog's. His nails are all black so you cannot tell where the nail ends and the nerves begin. Thankfully the vet will do it for a modest fee. Since we never get his haircut and manage his fur ourselves (wash and trim), I figure we've saved enough to merit getting someone to do the nails.
