The kids had a field trip today to the Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky. Fun day...I experimented with some different settings on my camera to try to get something cool for my photo today. I think this one is my favorite...

I have been disgusted at the condition of this cabinet for a couple of weeks now. I was reminded of a Flylady principle (www.flylady.net)...BABYSTEPS! So I worked for 5 minutes and cleaned up this cabinet. I should have taken a "before" picture...things were about to fall out! Amazing what 5 minutes of focus can do...

I'm cheating a little b/c it's Saturday's picture that I took Sunday morning. Saturday I was feeling a complete lack of direction...I set my timer for 7 minutes, made this list and finished ALL of it. And that's a good feeling! I know it's fuzzy, but please note the quick lesson on square roots in the corner :o)

When they were 6 and 2, this would have created severe panic to my Mommy heart, but now at 12 and 8, I know it's just normal boy stuff...

Tomorrow I will be subbing first grade. I'm very excited to wear these
fun socks and hopefully read this book to the class. Our family loves
Kate DiCamillo!

Quinn's research paper on Jupiter is due Friday. He still has a LOT of work to do. I caught him drumming his fingers in a moment of deep thought :o)

I find it difficult to sit down with my own kids to make sure their piano practicing is being done well (very sad for a piano teacher to say that). Today, though, Millie and I even had time to do her theory book!

We really don't think of ourselves as "dog people", although Matt and I have had a dog since we lived in our very first home 15 years ago (way before kids). The void left by the passing of our sweet Coda was bigger than we thought it would be, and Tonks has helped us cope a little bit. Not as a replacement for Coda, but as a new friend to fill a special spot in our family and our hearts. You can see from Millie's face how much happiness she brings. Happy Graduation Day to Tonks (and family)

Millie's friend Kaitlyn had a real tea party today and the girls were
allowed to try on the fancy hats and scarves.

I completely forgot to take a pic today so I'm snapping this one with
my phone right before bed. Although I don't mind snow too much, winter
also brings very dry skin (especially my hands) which I'm ready to be
done with! So this lotion sits right by my bed.

Super Bowl Sunday...these buddies were so excited to play and hang out together that they didn't sit down to watch any of the game until it was time for us to go home!

I think this is my hubby's first appearance on the blog. He read all of the Harry Potter books aloud to our older two kids...now he's on round 2 for Zane and Millie. We are almost done with book 3!! These 3 snow days in a row (my friend calls them "snice days b/c they are due to ice, not snow) have given us some lazy dinners followed by a read-aloud.
