Millie is getting baptized in September and I need to submit a picture of her...which should I choose? This one is not the greatest view of her face, but a perfect view of her quirky personality :o)
At the kids' orchestra retreat, they were divided into four groups. Each was given a stack of newspapers and a roll of masking tape. Their job was to build a shelter that four of them could fit in. Very creative kids we've got!!
Our kids are growing up! Sometimes instead of hiring a babysitter, we let them stay home alone with Quinn and Clara in charge of taking care of emergencies. BUT...no one is really "the boss." They all work together to get along (no phone calls to Mom or Dad because of arguments) and getting any assigned chores completed. If they meet those criteria, they earn some "staying home alone money." They decide together what they are saving for. They've been saving for almost a year for a night away at Great Wolf Lodge and we were finally able to go this weekend!!
First Day of School tradition...a special snack. It's usually homemade, but I decided I'm not going to feel guilty about the fact that I bought it this year :o) Sorry that Quinn is missing, but he was still at Cross Country practice and these three were getting ready to leave for their own classes/lessons.
The ice cream truck visits the 5th/6th grade overnight event at church!!
Yesterday was Matt's niece's birthday. We decided to have Maddie over today for an afternoon of swimming, birthday shopping, and Culver's for dinner. Love the way she's smiling at Millie here...
My brother taught Quinn to make cool bracelets and watch bands out of paracord last summer. When he came down this week he brought a big bag of paracord for Quinn and by the next day, Tonks had a new collar!!
It's our 20th high school reunion tonight. Lucky to see my favorite best friend from my high school class every morning when I wake up and every night before I fall asleep! :o)
I didn't take any pictures today...we spent today unpacking and
getting ready for a funeral. My uncle passed away in an accident
Sunday morning. He was a great man...a leader in his church and an
inspiration and help to so many.
This picture of him and my aunt was taken at my cousin's wedding
several years ago.
We had a fun visit with Matt's grandma in Sebring, FL. She even beat Matt TWICE at Monopoly Deal (to beat Matt at anything is something to brag about!!)
Great Grandma Roberts had all of these cool vehicles complete with sound and lights! I think they played with these for a couple of hours...The shuttle and the motorcycle-carrying RV were the two items in highest demand.
Read-aloud. Matt read the entire Harry Potter series to Quinn and Clara. He is now reading it again to Zane and Millie. They are in the middle of book 4, The Goblet of Fire. They are hoping to finish it before we go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
(PS...they didn't quite get finished, but I don't think they saw anything there that gave away big secrets)
