We went to a neat place called Wine and Canvas for Matt's birthday. This kids all think Matt's painting is better than mine :o( We had a fun evening, though!!

We went to the circus last night. No animals, no professionals...just a BUNCH of kids between the ages of 7 and 21. The circus takes place every year in July in Peru, IN (about 1/2 hour north of our hometown of Kokomo, IN). My parents took me to this circus as a child, but my memories are very hazy and my kids have never been. Matt's parents wanted to take us, and I'm so glad they asked!! What an amazing evening!! I snapped a few shots before I heard them say "no photography"...oops!!
She went up the ramp, turned up another one, and then down those steps! She fell off once going down the steps, but WOW!!! The balance those kids have is amazing.

None of my pics today turned out very good, but all 4 kids picked out fabric on Monday and today we sewed it into custom pillowcases for each of them. (trying to find inside activities this week with the triple digit temps!) This was a real test of patience for me, but I'm happy to report that (this time) I did not scream, nor did any of the children cry. SUCCESS!!

This is our neighbor, Blake, and I love his face in this picture!! I can't remember what this thing is called that they're passing, but it's filled with a water balloon and it pops at random. Kind of a summertime version of hot potato.

We launched a couple of test rockets in the school parking lot today. We are thinking about incorporating them into the 5th/6th grade overnight event in August. We learned that we need a LOT bigger open area for these guys. They ended up in the neighborhood next to the school!

This is one of our very favorite dinners...and a recipe I can't share because I made it up and it changes every time. I saute veggies (whatever we have or whatever sounds good), and then add cooked pasta and let it start to brown a little bit. Then I add cream and white wine and let it thicken just a bit...top with grilled chicken. Delicious!!

So many fun (and better) pics from today, but I had to choose this one to document Quinn's 13th birthday ride to dinner. The Chicken Limo picked him up (and Matt and the other kids got to ride, too!) and then picked up a couple of friends on the way to dinner. The best part was the Limo "clucking" as it parked and before it pulled away!

We had originally planned to do red, white, and blue for the Fourth...but life dictated the need to simplify the original plan. Kids are still all happy and I'm excited that at least for one day of our vacation, I'll only have one color of shirt to keep track of!!
